Hi, my name is Linda. I have been a successful career family childcare provider for 6 years. Being a mother, I take pride in providing the highest quality of care to support individualized development for all children. I truly enjoy what I do in my profession and hope it reflects in the children lives that I am privileged enough to be a part of.
Our child care philosophy is that each child is valued as unique individuals with their own special needs and backgrounds that should be respected as such. It is one of our primary goals to reinforce and support the families' ideals, to provide a quality environment which encourages optimal growth in all areas and most of all to have FUN learning.
There are many opportunities for the children to learn concepts from real hands-on experiences such as art activities, dramatic play, role play, educational games, children's songs, books, blocks, manipulatives, paint, going on field trips-even if it’s around the block, taking a discovery nature hike in the neighborhood using their senses, experiencing sounds in nature, planting flowers in the backyard, playing in the dirt, painting the patio deck with water after spilling juice develops personal responsibility as well as having FUN playing in water.
We make every effort to provide an environment filled with FUN, and developmentally appropriate toys and equipment that encourage imagination and exploration. An environment designed to encourage children to become independent and to make choices, and to help them figure out concepts and ideas sometimes on their own, as well as explain things to them when needed.

- Full and part-time enrollment for ages 6 months to 12 years of age
- Toddler and Preschool Weekly Theme which focuses on all areas of development. The curriculum and activities are designed to meet the standards of the Illinois Early Learning Standards. We incorporate an informal curriculum into our daily activities for FUN and to prepare the older children for kindergarten. Each week we concentrate on a different theme, yet reinforcng those learned skills on-going.
Some of the weekly themes are, "Bugs and Insects, All About Me, Farm Animals, Transportation, Dental Health" and so many more!
The curriculum includes FUN educational hands-on activities that correspond with the weekly theme.
- Art activities - the children paint, glue, draw, color, create collages, and play with playdough . . .
- Storytime, Nursery rhymes, Fingerplay, and Poems. . .
- Music and Movement, using their large and small muscle skills and they learn to feel confident about what their bodies can do.
- Calendar and Weather

- Dramatic Play
- Early Language and Early Math Skills

- Nutritious kid friendly meals and snacks that follow the meal guidelines of the USDA IL Child Care Bureau Food Program

Brown Bear's main focus is to provide a safe, encouraging, and quality learning environment that allow the children to discover and learn about the world they live, through FUN and productive PLAY! Our goals are to “challenge and prepare" children giving them the confidence needed so they can have FUN learning the concepts and skills needed for a solid foundation for entering kindergarten and for life.
